It appears that as the year has progressed, my well-intentioned weekly updates have turned into monthly updates, and in the case of this posting, an every other monthly update. I sometimes wonder if I should continue keeping up the blog, mostly because I’m not sure anyone other than my Mom, sister, and friend Velma ever come to read it. And let’s be honest, I haven’t even given them much to read lately.
I’m sure some moms put in tons of energy into keeping up their blogs, and I applaud them for that. I wish I could devote more time to mine. I often feel a lot of guilt that I don’t. I didn’t mean to make this post about feeling guilty, but blogs are for writing what you feel, and that’s how I feel. Not that I’ve got a huge readership (make that any readership) to feel guilty about letting down, but I guess mainly myself. In general, I’m a bit of a perfectionist, but as a blogger, I’m a bit of a failure. I’m not even good at Facebook or Twitter, even though I have accounts.
As far as our family’s concerned, we’ve been pretty busy this past month.
- Yesterday, Chase lost his first tooth. His front bottom right tooth. The one next to it is loose, too, so it won’t be much longer until that one’s out. He was so excited he called everyone he could — my mom, Del’s mom, Del’s aunt, and my sister and brother. He even wanted to go to our neighbors’ houses and tell all of them.
- We’ve had our first serious injury. This past Tuesday Felicity sprained her wrist while playing soccer with a friend at school during lunchtime. Yesterday was the first day she didn’t complain at all about any pain.
- Nick had an evaluation at a speech therapy clinic, and will start speech therapy sessions in February.
As for me, I’ve been busy reading in my free time (yeah, right, what free time?). My current obsession is Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo trilogy. I read the first book and took a break before launching into the The Girl Who Played With Fire. Right now I’ve got less than 100 pages left of The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest. The last two I’ve read back to back since the third one picks up right where the second one left off.
