Kenny Chesney has a song called “Don’t Blink” which talks about how fast time flies.  Don’t blink or else you will miss it.  Well I feel like I blinked.  Half of the year has officially passed and I barely noticed it.  Of course I remember specific moments and events throughout the year, but as a whole, it doesn’t feel like 2011 is half over. 

I started off my 4th of July weekend yesterday at work.  Del and the kids came to visit me at lunch.  They got to meet everyone in my department and the kids who have no problem yelling and screaming at home got all shy when they met everyone.  Other than saying “hi”, Chase was the only one who actually spoke to anyone.  After lunch, I walked them around the area.  Felicity said she felt like she was at a theme park walking around.  I will say the area where I work is very nice.  It’s almost like a park.  I got home earlier than usual, and we spent the night watching Transformers 2 in preparation for Transformers 3, which we plan on seeing tomorrow.

On the 4th, we’ll be going to a nearby church that sits on the top of a big hill to watch fireworks.  The church is right across the street from a town center, so we’ll grab dinner there first, and hang around until the fireworks start.  That’s what we’ve done the past few years, so it’s become tradition for us.  It’s a lot easier to do with the kids.  Last year, Chase and Nick kept saying “Wowwwww!!” every time a firework went off.

And lastly, given that the weather is in the 90′s, we’ll probably cool off in the pool.  Since we don’t have a heater on our pool, the only real time we can go in is when it gets really hot outside and the water heats up to a comfortable temperature.
