Mommy Melting Pot on Facebook

Happy Mother's Day!

I wish all mothers around the world a Happy Mother’s Day!

May your day be filled with love, peace, and relaxation.  In otherwords, nothing like your normal days as a mom!  :)

I had an eventful Mother’s Day: I followed up my usual visit to church with a family trip to Costco where Nick had a meltdown because he wanted to bring his Winnie the Pooh suitcase inside and his mean Mommy and Daddy wouldn’t let him.  I was instructed by Felicity that I was to watch an episode of Disney Channel’s new show, ANT Farm, and Chase told me I had to play games on Disney.com with him.  And, oh yes, I watched my beloved Lakers self-destruct today as they got swept 4-0 by the Dallas Mavericks.  It wasn’t even close.  They lost by over 30 points.

As far as gifts go, Chase wanted to give me his Mother’s Day presents on Friday.  I had to convince him to wait until today to give them to me.  First thing this morning, as soon as he woke up, he gave them to me.  The first present was a beautiful card in the shape of a purse.  Inside the card was a poem about mothers and his handprint.  It’s definitely one of the priceless gifts that all mothers cherish.  His other gift was a small container he had decorated in school filled with some soil and seeds.  He told me it would grow a pink flower.  Nick made me a picture frame out of wide popsicle sticks with his picture inside and colored a paper about Mother’s Day for me.  Felicity took a wrapped present, tossed it at me and declared, “Daddy made me give this to you.”  Exactly what every mother wants to hear when her child gives her a present and definitely in stark contrast to the other gifts so lovingly given to me.  When I asked her if she wanted to give me that present, she told me no.  Then I think I shocked her by rejecting it.  I told her I would not accept a present she did not want to give me and told her to return it to her daddy.  She didn’t like that idea any better than she did of being forced to give me something, and only when she sincerely stated that she wanted to give me the present did I acquiesce and open it.  Of course I was happy with all my presents, but Felicity’s sourpuss attitude did put a slight damper on the day.  She was like that all through church, sitting with a look on her face like she was mad, and only when I told her she was ruining my Mother’s Day did she relent.  A half hour later, she was back to her old self.  I don’t know if she’s got hormones starting to kick in or what, but she was definitely moody.

My day will end watching The Amazing Race finale and Celebrity Apprentice.  I’m waiting to see if NeNe will finally lose it and knock Starr off her rocker.  You’re right, it doesn’t take much to amuse me.
