Merry Christmas!

To anyone who may be reading this, I wish you a truly wonderful holiday and a very Merry Christmas (and to some of you, Happy Hannukah)!  As you can see, we took the kids to see Santa yesterday, and it appears, so did half of the other people in the country.  We were in line for about 45 minutes, when lo and behold, Santa had to take a lunch break.  For an hour.  Guess he’s got to keep his round figure, huh?  So Del decided to continue waiting in line while I took the kids to lunch so we didn’t have starving, cranky kids when Santa came back.  Sounds like a good plan, huh?

I shouldn’t complain.  For the most part, it worked out.  Except that Nick couldn’t stand the place we went to for lunch.  He was crying, he was hungry, and he was thirsty.  What I’m really trying to say is he WAS NOT HAPPY!  He squirmed around, he pushed away his food, he spilled his milk.  He wanted nothing to do with the restaurant.  And while dealing with him, I still had to take care of Felicity and Chase.  At least they behaved.  Must have known Santa would still be watching them, even though he was at lunch, too.  And, of course, my cell phone was ringing off the hook.

So once lunch was finished, we still had about 15 more minutes before Santa arrived.  A few other people who were ahead of us in line decided it wasn’t worth the wait, so we were second in line when we returned.  Nick was just happy to be out of the restaurant.  He was running, smiling, and laughing as if we were having a fun day at the park.  That all changed, though, once it was his turn to see Santa.  Although Nick hasn’t quite grasped the concept of Santa, his reaction was priceless.  It was like, “Holy crap!”  He’s real.  He knows how naughty I’ve been.  I’m not getting anything for Christmas!  Waahhh!!!!!!  We couldn’t even get him to sit on Santa’s lap.  He had to sit on Felicity’s lap while she sat on Santa’s lap.

So it seems we’re almost ready for Christmas.  Cards have all been sent out.  Presents shipped out to the East Coast, actually due to arrive today.  Still a few presents left to wrap for folks out here, but I’ll be doing that once I publish this post.  Then off to Del’s mom’s house for the traditional Christmas Eve get together.  The only thing left to do will be to wait for Santa to come.  We don’t expect a lot of presents, but we’re hoping for a few nice things.  We know Santa’s dealing with the economy, too.

So to everyone out there in cyberland, Merry Christmas!!

  • I'm a mommy too!

Oh my goodness…what a priceless picture!! Poor little Nick. It seems like he didn’t have such a good day. It’s good that at least he sat on Felicity’s lap even though he wasn’t a happy camper!! Maybe next year will be different!!
