Happy Thanksgiving

As I am writing this, I am hoping that each and every person had a Happy Thanksgiving.  I personally had a very relaxing and enjoyable one.  We went over to Del’s aunt’s house, and since it was in the 70’s, we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and do an outdoor Thanksgiving.  It’s the first time I experienced eating a Thanksgiving meal outside.  Growing up on the East Coast, it was always cold at Thanksgiving, so dining outside was never an option.  It was so enjoyabale and a nice change of pace.  Some of the kids’ cousins were there, so they had fun playing with each other.  Of course, I ate more than my fair share — 3 helpings of mashed potatoes, a piece of apple pie and a piece of pumpkin pie – I know, sooooo bad!  But in all fairness, I did eat a helping of salad as at least 1-2 helpings of veggies for every helping of mashed potatoes, so I wasn’t all bad today.  Plus, we ate early, so I spent the rest of the day walking around and playing with the kids, which I know burned off enough calories for at least two bites of pie!  :) It was a decadent 1 day indulgence.  Back to healthier eating on Friday.

When we got back home, the tryptophan in the turkey took affect, and I fell asleep on the couch.  (The kids feel asleep in the car on the way home).  So now I am finally getting to a chance to write on my blog.

So here’s the part where I say what I’m thankful for.  I’m most thankful for my family — Del, Felicity, Chase, and Nick — and the rest of our family and friends, near and far away.  I’m thankful we have a roof over our heads and food to eat.  I’m thankful that in these tough times, we’ve been able to skate by and stay afloat.  Barely, sometimes, but somehow we manage to pull through.  I’m thankful each time one of my kids smiles and tells me they love me.  I’m thankful for every hug and kiss.  I’m thankful for God and my faith.  I’m thankful for the hope that things will get better for us financially.  I’m thankful for each moment I get to spend with a loved one.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
