Product Review: Progressive Vegetable/French Fry Cutter

When kids are hungry, they want food and they want it fast.  One reason why I love our french fry cutter is that it’s so easy to use and easy to clean.  Once we figured out that the potato had to be cut so it wasn’t taller than the cutting grid (duh!), it was a breeze to use.  It saves so much time cutting potatoes for french fries.  Just lift up the lever, stick the potato inside, and push toward the cutting grid.  It might take a little to get used to the amount of force needed at first, but if I can do it without too much effort, than almost anyone can.  You can choose between two different sizes to make the fries – shoestring or steak.  Clean up is pretty easy, too.  They don’t suggest you put the cutter itself inside the dishwasher, but the cutting blade inserts are dishwasher safe.  Except for the cutting blade inserts, the rest of the unit is one piece, so washing it by hand isn’t too big of a deal.  Sometimes a little bit of the potato gets wedged on the side of the lever, but I’ve never had a problem getting it out.  You can also use it to cut other vegetables, but so far I’ve only managed to use it for making french fries.
