Nick Escapes From His Crib

So I sit down at the computer after an exhausting night taking the kids to our local Farmer’s Market.  Nick is crying but trying to settle down in his crib, while Felicity and Chase are in bed.  All of a sudden, the crying sound gets louder and sounds closer.  Yes, you guessed it — my baby boy is no longer in his crib.  He is standing in the hallway near the entrance to the living room.

I pick him up and hold him, and he immediately settles down.  He sounds like he is finally sleeping, so I put him back in his crib.  He starts crying again as I lay him down, but I figure he will settle himself down, since he was already sleeping.  Guess again.  Not even a minute later —  THUMP! and more crying.  I pick him up again and hold him close to me as I rock him back to sleep.  This time he stays asleep when I lay him back in his crib, looking sweet and peaceful.

Nick has never climbed out of his crib before, and now I am wondering if this scene will repeat tomorrow night.  Del and I have been talking about moving Chase out of the toddler bed and into a “big boy’s” bed, and moving Nick into the toddler bed.  We’ve been putting it off as long as we can, but I have a feeling the decision’s already been made for us.

  • I'm a mommy too!

You’re in big trouble now that Nick is getting out of his crib!! I guess it’s time now for the toddler bed. As long as Nick was in his crib, he was contained and safe…but now no more!!

Maybe when he’s in the toddler bed, he might go to sleep easier….but then he can also roam around!!

Good luck!! Let me know how he does in the toddler bed and how Chase does in a big boy bed.

“In” would be the key word there. Del is out as we are speaking buying Chase’s bed. I have a feeling we’re in for trouble with Nick in a toddler bed, but we don’t want him to get hurt falling out of the crib. Nick loves the toddler bed … for playing in. I have no idea how he will react to actually sleeping in it, although I already anticipate problems with him getting out of it.
